How Many Chiropractic Visits Will I Need? Typical Ranges by Condition

How Many Chiropractic Visits Will I Need?

Typical ranges by condition, when we re-test, and when we stop or refer you.

The short answer

It depends on what is injured. Simple recent strains often need 4 to 8 visits; a pinched nerve often takes 4 to 6 weeks; a disc herniation with pain into the leg or arm often takes 8 to 12 weeks. We re-test about every 4 weeks, and if you are not measurably better we change course or refer you. We bill per visit, with no prepaid package.

Typical ranges

  • Simple, recent strains and sprains: often 4 to 8 visits.
  • Pinched nerve without disc involvement: often 4 to 6 weeks.
  • Disc herniation with pain into the arm or leg: often 8 to 12 weeks.
  • Long-standing or corrective cases: 3 to 6 months, with visits spaced further apart as you improve.

These are starting points, not promises. Your plan is set after your exam, and it shortens if you improve faster.

When we re-test, and what happens next

We re-test you about every 4 weeks with the same measurements we took at the start. If you are not measurably better, we change the plan or refer you to the right specialist. We do not keep treating just to keep treating.

Before you leave your first visit you will know your diagnosis, your goals, and the date of your first re-test.

No packages, and when care ends

We bill visit by visit. There is no prepaid package to sign, including for spinal decompression, so you can stop whenever you want.

Care ends when you reach your goals. Some patients choose an occasional check-in afterward; that is optional and never a contract.

Can it be fixed in one visit?

Sometimes a locked or irritated joint feels much better after one visit. Most pinched nerves, disc problems and whiplash injuries take weeks, because the tissue has to calm down and heal, and the muscles that protect it have to be retrained.

Common questions

How many chiropractic visits does it take to fix sciatica?

Sciatica from a disc often takes 8 to 12 weeks of care. We re-test about every 4 weeks and refer you for injections or a surgical opinion if you are not improving.

How many visits to fix a pinched nerve?

Often 4 to 6 weeks when no disc herniation is involved; longer when it is.

How long do you see a chiropractor after a car accident?

Simple sprains often need 4 to 8 visits. Injuries involving nerves, discs or ligament laxity take longer. Your plan is set after the exam and re-tested about every 4 weeks.

Do you require a prepaid package?

No. We bill per visit, including spinal decompression, and you can stop any time.
